Who is behind Sunny Day Films Wedding Videography?
Simao is the OG behind Sunny Day Films.
Born in Portugal, he’s called Australia home since 2011. His love for film began early — ever since his grandfather first took him to the movies, he’s been hooked. At 18, he bought his first video camera, and that’s where the story really started.
Life has taken him in many directions — from studying engineering in Italy, completing a master’s in the UK, to moving to Australia on a PhD scholarship in Biomedical Engineering. You’d be hard-pressed to find a more qualified wedding videographer.
But it was his passion for visual arts, music, and storytelling that led him to pursue filmmaking. Today, Simao brings that creative drive to every project, crafting wedding films that are as unique and visually striking as the couples he works with.
Chris was born in Adelaide after his parents migrated from the Philippines and has enjoyed living on the Gold Coast since 2009. From a young age, Chris always loved working with a camera. He began as a photographer but found even more enjoyment in filming videos. His dad had always filmed home videos during Chris’s childhood, and that thrill of capturing memories clearly rubbed off on him.
When he’s not working, Chris can be found taking photos, playing bass guitar, watching movies, or building computers.
Alex was born in California and now calls the sunny Gold Coast home. Her love for video and storytelling began early — as a kid, she’d rope her siblings into acting in the short films she directed. Ten-year-old Alex would be proud to know she now gets to capture memories for a living.
When she’s not working, you’ll likely find her reading, roller skating, or experimenting with film photography.
