Katie and Josh’s story began in 2014, when a chance meeting between a backpacker and a university student sparked something special. Despite the distance, their connection grew quickly — from late-night phone calls that lasted until morning, to budget flights back and forth across the country. When Katie surprised Josh with a $45 TigerAir flight for his 20th birthday, he visited the Gold Coast — and asked her to be his girlfriend. Not long after, Josh made the move north, quietly living with Katie in her student accommodation and heading off to building sites at sunrise. It was the beginning of a life built together from the ground up. Some of their most treasured memories include dancing in their kitchen to The Wombats, road-tripping in their first car, spending time in Josh’s homeland of Scotland, and swaying under the stars at Brunswick Heads. Josh’s proposal in the rain at Palm Cove — Katie’s favourite place — was a simple and meaningful moment they’ll never forget. Their wedding was a reflection of everything they value: timeless, relaxed, elegant, and personal.
